2008 training weekend
In Autumn 2008 we discovered that lots of our volunteers, fresh off Otesha cycle tours, were wondering what to do next. They were full of energy and enthusiasm but didn't know quite where to direct it. So we came to the rescue with the first Cycle Tour Alumni training weekend.
It was a weekend of much frivolity and fun. Cyclists reunited, we pedalled our way around London with the Halloween Critcal Mass bike ride. Then it was down to the serious stuff.
Over the course of the weekend we learnt:
- Communication & presentation skills (or story-telling)
- Appropriate ways to work in schools
- How to design a project that meets a need
- How to talk to strangers about stuff you care about
- The art of getting things done
Feedback from participants:
"I always feel so motivated when I’m in the company of oteshites… it’s almost as important just to be with each other again as the content of the course."
"I love that Otesha is a big, cuddly mother bird that will teach us to fly and gently push us out of the nest."
