Project visits and speakers
Led by some of the most exciting movers and shakers in the field, these visits are an opportunity to experience inspiring projects in action, learn from different models for social change, and meet the people at the heart of the sustainable revolution. Confirmed project visits and speakers so far include:
Brithdir Mawr Community
The Brithdir Mawr Community is a collective of people working towards sustainability who wish to share their aim with others. They take care of the land, recycle and conserve resources, garden and farm organically and are off the grid for electricity and water.
Fforest Camps
This eco-tourism operation has created a place to enjoy the simplicity, pleasures and beauty of the outdoor experience with all the comforts of a hotel. They have also built a thriving adventure tours operation, all based around an ethos of introducing visitors to the mid-Wales coast in a respectful and low-impact way.
Magnificent Revolution
This cross-disciplinary not-for-profit organisation uses bicycle power generators as educational tools, helping people to understand energy in an enjoyable and engaging way, and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to actively participate in building a sustainable world by teaching them how to build their own miniature power stations.
Natalia Rose
Natalia is a fashion expert (and 10 day tour member!) who has worked for the likes of Alexander McQueen, Tristan Webber, Dazed and Confused, Laura Ashley and Wall Paper magazine. Troubled by the ethics of the fashion industry, she has set up her own ethical cycling clothing company, Cyrenès.
Sarah Weir
Currently part of the Brixton Cycle bicycle shop co-operative in London, Sarah is an Otesha UK cycle tour alumni and an awesome bike mechanic (okay, so we’re a little biased…). She has worked in the fast lane as a bike courier, for cycling accessories company Cycle Chic and has done her bit to make bike maintenance more accessible by running regular workshops.
West Wales Eco Centre
This charitable organisation promotes issues surrounding energy use and the environment, concentrating particularly on energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental education and fuel poverty. They run an energy advice service, providing free and impartial advice to householders across North, Mid and South West Wales, campaign around fuel poverty in Wales and educate the local community around issues of climate change and sustainability.
