We're cracking on!

29th March 2010 by

Alice and bikeToday’s the third day of the alumni group peddlin’ like mad across the South West. They started from Land’s End (o’ course) and have had punctures, chains a-snappin’ and even a bit of off road adventurin’!

They’ve travelled 96 miles already and their limbs are starting to feel the pain! Today the destination is Taunton…and over the next 13 days they will travel through:

Stroud
Walsall Wood
Northwhich
Lancaster
Mungrisdale
Hawick
Edinburgh
Pitlochry
Carrbridge
Pittentrail
Tongue
and of course…
John O’Groats!

We’ll be filling this blog with our adventures, in the meantime though – thanks for all your support!

H.G Wells said: “When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the human race”.

I say: “When I see a bunch of crazy adults on bicycles with stereos and stuff attached to them cycling across the country in the name of amazing inspiring stuff, a better future, embracing the challenge and having loads of fun, I do not despair for the human race even more than H.G Wells”.

Good luck with the rain guys, its meant to be 3 days of heavy snow up here so lets hope its melted by your arrival in the burgh!

    Hey hey guys, keep pedaling!
Have just returned after my week on the lejog route, was ace to be there at the start of it all and i had a fantasticly exhausting time with the core four and a few days ride with carla and sara! i made it to lancaster 500 miles from lands end! i have never cycled such long distances in a day before and it was incredibly tough, we were stopping off along the way eating our body weights in cheesy chips and i’m glad to say cake and tea in an effort to quench such incredible hunger! we seemed to be plagued by chain breakages which has never happened to me before and then seemed to happen constantly, particularly on my last day when i had to get to my train in lancaster- oh the pressure! What a day, as well as the chain issues there was a tyre blow out, a wee accident and a complete bike breakage and not to mention the rain!! Thanks for such a great week- my legs are really feeling it now, keep up the amazing pace, oh and thankyou Mr Portishead man!!!!
